The fire is burning on a ridge, and is backing down the hill towards a tree plantation and the work center. The fire has some fingers to the south, influenced by wind from an overhead thunder cell.
The fire is currently burning in grass, brush and timber. Firefighters are on scene, building a fireline and laying hose around the fire. Air support has responded, and has a retardant line around two-thirds of the fire.
