RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) --The Reno City Council will vote for the second and final time on the UNR Farms development proposal on Wednesday.

The University of Nevada, Reno wants the council to approve the rezoning of a 102 acre parcel known as UNR Farms. If approved, the amendment would allow for development of office/commercial, business park core, or mixed residential uses.

The parcel is part of the University of Nevada, Reno’s 1,081 acre Main Station Laboratory located north of the intersection of South McCarran Boulevard and Pembroke Drive.

Some have expressed concern with flood mitigation, because the area is known to fall subject to flooding.

Claudia Hanson with the City of Reno tells News 4 there are ordinances in place that establish guidelines and requirements of areas determined to be subject of flood damage that would prevent flooding issues.

Those who would like to will be able to speak during the meeting during the time allotted for public comment.

The Planning Commission recommended approving the request and the Reno City Council voted previously voted to approve the rezoning in a 4 to 2 vote.
