RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- This morning, the City of Reno's holiday tree was installed on the City Plaza.

The 30 foot blue spruce was donated by Reno resident Mary Bride.

City of Reno officials will flick the switch on Reno's holiday tree on the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 20, signaling the official beginning of the holiday season.

The public is invited to enjoy this great tradition featuring carolers, ice skating, and a community celebration.

The event begins at 4:30pm on the City Plaza. Following the tree lighting at 5:15, the rink will open to the public. Skaters can receive a free skate rental by donating a new hat, mittens, or scarf to the Salvation Army.
