RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Incumbent school board president Barbara Clark ran unopposed after trustee Dave Aiazzi stepped out of the race just a few minutes before the vote. In a unanimous decision, the board voted Clark in for another term as president.

"What I look forward to most is, again, addressing our data and showing that we're headed in the right direction, that we're being able to close those acheivement gaps and have children graduate," Clark said.

Clark said funding will continue to be a major challenge for the board in her next term.

Also keeping her role, Lisa Ruggerio will serve another term as clerk this year.

Ruggerio said the board members have a lot of work ahead of them, but she is confident in the team.

"I think we're on the right track," Ruggerio said. "I think we need to continue the good work that we're doing and stay focused on our strategy, which is the strategic plan, stay focused on our value of parents and community input and continue on that road to success."

Along with Clark and Ruggerio, Trustee Barbara McLaury was voted in today as the vice president of the school board.

I'd sure like to know why Aiazzi stepped out of the race MINUTES before the vote. Nobody else in Washoe County cared enough to run?
