RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- The controversial educational platform known as Common Core took center stage at an informational meeting on Tuesday.

Common Core is an initiative that seeks to establish consistent educational standards across the all states. Federal Common Core standards are already being tested in Washoe and Clark counties, but a state-wide implementation plan set for next school year is already raising plenty of questions.

Opponents of the change said they fear this system will lower standards. John Eppolito, President of Americans for Better Schools, spoke about what's next in the opposition of Common Core.

"Educate parents. There's other people doing different things across the state, people on the right talking with legislators, people on the left talking with legislators. My role is to educate people."
