Sparks, NV (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Hundreds came together to remember the Sparks Middle School shooting victims.

Past and present students and so many others came out to remember Michael Landsberry, a beloved teacher and coach and the two boys who were wounded during Monday's shooting at Sparks Middle School.

Many students wore Batman shirts, they say that was Mr. Landsberry's favorite super hero. Students say they lost a hero and that Mr. Landsberry was the real batman, because he took a bullet for them.

Though the students and the community are mourning the loss of a hero, students say they tragedy is bringing them closer together.

Emotions ran high, prompting the mother of one of the wounded victims to speak out, "He was shot because his first instinct was to help somebody."

Jennifer Davis says her 12 year old son was shot while trying to help Mr. Landsberry. Those who attended the vigil say this is just the beginning of a very long healing process, especially for those who considered Mr. Landsberry a role model.

"I just can't believe this man is gone, he is a hero right now and he will be missed," said a former student of Mr. Landsberry.
