RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Construction will begin on Phase Two of Nevada’s first Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) at I-580 and Moana Lane on Tuesday, October 9, 2012. Phase One is on schedule and includes the reconstruction of the southbound off-ramp.
Phase Two includes reconstruction of the I-580 Moana Lane northbound on and off ramps, the southbound on ramp, and Moana Lane from just west of the southbound off-ramp to just east of the northbound off-ramp. During phase two the following closures will be in place 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week until approximately November 21, 2012:
•I-580 northbound on and off ramps
•I-580 southbound on-ramp to eastbound Moana Lane. The southbound to westbound movement will be OPEN beginning Tuesday, October 9, 2012.
•Moana Lane underneath I-580 from just west of the southbound off-ramp to just east of the northbound off-ramp. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

This is also the first transportation project in northern Nevada to use the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) method of procurement and install “green” bike lanes. The project is on a fast-track construction schedule and includes two phases.

As you approach the intersection, road signs and striping easily guide you to the opposite (left) side of the roadway and back again to the standard (right) side of the road. If you are accessing the freeway, you will follow signs to make an easy left-hand turn onto the freeway entrance.
