Reno, NV (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The countdown to the Winter Olympics is on and with only one more day to go News 4 caught up with a local Olympian and gold medalist Julia Mancuso from Sochi on Wednesday morning.
Mancuso says they arrived in Sochi yesterday and she's getting geared up to compete this weekend.
Mancuso won her first gold medal in the giant slalom alpine skiing in the 2006 Winter Olympics.
She then walked away with another two silver medals after the 2010 Winter Olympics. The all around athlete known to teammates as "Super Jules" considers herself an all around athlete and says she's feeling ready to compete.
"I feel like I'm in really good shape so I'm excited," Mancuso says.
We asked Mancuso if she believes her training in the offseason is going to give her an edge and hopefully help her walk away with another gold medal.
"When I'm not mountain biking and playing in the mountains, I'm surfing and training on the beach, so a lot of time getting strong. I feel good," says Mancuso.
The Winter Olympics begin Thursday, February 6 with figure skating, men's snowboarding, women's snowboarding, and women's freestyle skiing. Opening ceremonies begin Friday. Olympics can be viewed on NBC, KRNV News 4.
