FALLON, Nev. ( & KRNV) – The top fast draw shooters from around the world are going to be in Fallon this weekend to compete for the title "Fastest Gun Alive."

Cowboy Fast Draw Association returns to the Churchill County Fairgrounds in Fallon for the world championships starting Friday Oct. 4 and ending Saturday Oct. 6.

200 of the world's best shooters are competing for more than $40,000, prizes, and of glory.

"It's about the cowboy way. You'll see this essence of the old west there and the spirit of the game we play and it's about handshakes, it's about camaraderie. That's what our game is about," 17 time World Fast Draw Champion Cal Elrich says.

Preliminary rounds begin Friday then the top seven men and top seven women will shoot for the title of "The Fastest Gun Alive" on Sunday.

Events are completely free to the public.

Saturday and Sunday spectators can get a taste of the old west at the Town Folk Alley.

There will be more than 30 vendors, 50 Civil War re-enactors.

Spectators will also have a chance to be a part of the action and shoot rounds just like the competitors, with wax bullets of course, as well.
