POPE VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — Crews are battling a wildfire in rural Napa County that has burned at least 300 acres and prompted mandatory evacuations.

State fire spokeswoman Alicia Amaro says the fast-moving blaze began shortly before noon Tuesday in the Pope Valley area. By 2 p.m., it had burned 200 acres. Some residents have been evacuated, though Amaro says she does not know how many.

She also says it is not immediately clear whether any homes, buildings or other structures have been damaged.

Fire crews are facing temperatures approaching 90 degrees.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
