RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Instead of starting their engines today, dozens of cyclists put the pedal to the metal in honor of First Responders.

Today the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride, also known as the Muddy Angels, got underway. The west coast cycling event will finish up in Sacramento on Thursday. The bike ride was created to honor EMS personnel and celebrate the lives of those who serve everyday, those who have become sick or injured while performing their duties, and those who have died in the line of duty.
