D.J. Fenner signs with Nevada

RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- University of Nevada head men’s basketball coach David Carter has signed D.J. Fenner to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Wolf Pack next season. Fenner is 6-6, shooting guard from Seattle Prep in Seattle, Wash.

Fenner led Seattle Prep to a runner-up finish in the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association 3A State tournament last March. The shooting guard averaged 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game for a Panther squad that went 24-6 last season. In the state title game he scored a team-high 26 points making seven-of-14 shots including two-of-three from behind the arc and five-of-six free throw attempts.

He was a first-team All-State selection and second-team All-Metro league pick as a junior. In his freshman season he earned first-team All-Metro league honors after averaging 17 points per game. As a sophomore he played his prep basketball at Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C..

He enters his senior season 80 points from 1,000 in his three-year career at Seattle Prep.

His father Derrick play nine seasons in the NFL. Originally drafted by Seattle, he also played for Cincinnati and Oakland.
