UPDATE - 4:28PM - Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini says Wilson has just been taken into custody.
At around 3:45PM today, Wilson turned himself in to law enforcement personnel in the Topaz Ranch Estates area and the incident was peaceful.
Wilson is currently being transported to the Douglas County Jail and will be charged with Attempted Murder with Use of a Deadly Weapon, among other charges that will be added later this afternoon. Judge Perkins will be determining Wilson’s bail sometime later this evening, however it is estimated to be between $100,000-$500,000.
UPDATE - 12:13PM - Our crew at the scene says Wilson does not have a violent crime history, and that he did know the victim.
UPDATE - JUL. 12 - 10:54AM - According to Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Wilson is still at large and deputies say they're still diligently looking for him.
During the manhunt for Wilson yesterday, deputies located a gun believed to have been used in the shooting by Wilson. The Sheriff wants to inform the public that although Wilson’s gun has been recovered, it is not known if he possesses other firearms or weapons and still should be considered armed and dangerous.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind the Topaz Ranch Estates residents they should remain aware of their surroundings and keep their homes secure and call 911 should they see Wilson. The Sheriff’s Office is also still seeking the public’s assistance with any information leading to the whereabouts of Wilson and is asked to call DCSO Dispatch at (775) 782- 5126.
UPDATE - 5:25PM - Sheriff Ron Pirini tells News 4 he is afraid the suspect is armed inside someone’s home.
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says a shooting happened around 2:15PM in the Topaz Ranch Estates area, and suspect is currently at large and should be considered armed and dangerous.
DCSO say the suspect has been identified as 44-year-old Gary Wilson. The victim sustained a gunshot wound in the shoulder, and the injury is not considered life-threatening.
Wilson is described as a white male adult, approximately 5’10” and 180lbs. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and no shirt.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has initiated an automated emergency phone notification to notify the residents in the Topaz Ranch Estates of this event. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office helicopter “Raven-1” has been deployed over the TRE area and is searching for Wilson.
The residents in the T.R.E. are asked to secure their residences and notify the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office if they encounter the suspect or have any information to assist. Deputies are currently in the Topaz Ranch Estates area actively searching for Wilson.
