RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Western Nevada College Head Softball Coach Leah Wentworth says, for the first time, twin student athletes from Damonte Ranch High School in Reno have chosen to play for Western Nevada College.
WNC recently signed twins Makenzie and Meghan Hospodka, who helped the Damonte Ranch Mustangs win the 2012 Northern Nevada region title and advance to the state tournament.
As juniors, the Hospodkas helped Damonte Ranch compile a 26-12 record. Meghan, a shortstop and second baseman, hit .317, totaling 39 hits in 123 at-bats. She was second on the club with 10 doubles and 31 runs scored. Makenzie, an outfielder and third baseman, provided power as a junior. Besides averaging .296 at the plate, she belted a team-high five triples and delivered four doubles and two homers.
