LYON COUNTY, Nev. (KRNV & - A 40-year-old man from Fallon crashed his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle Thursday at approximately 9:30 PM and was run-over by another vehicle. The man died from injures in the crash on US 50 between Silver Springs and Fallon near mile marker LY33.

The Nevada Highway Patrol tells News 4 the motorcycle left the south paved portion of the roadway and the motorcycle struck the south guardrail face. The motorcycle continued eastbound, overturned and ejected the driver. The driver of the motorcycle came to rest in the westbound travel lane of US 50.

An unidentified vehicle traveling westbound on US 50 then, ran over the driver of the motorcycle.

The Lyon County Deputy Coroner pronounced the driver as being deceased at the scene.

The name of the driver of the motorcycle has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

This guy was in pieces... a helmet would have done nothing!

Do you know if he was wearing a helmet? It may not have made a difference, but then again.....If he was still concious & able to crawl or roll off of the pavement itself, he might have been able to avoid the car.....unless it all happened instantaneously. I'm still new to the region, but recall driving H-50 ( across to Ely ) back in 1996. Traffic was nearly non-existant.
