LAS VEGAS (AP) — Democrats aren't ready to concede Sheila Leslie's defeat to Republican Greg Brower in a hotly contested Nevada Senate race.
A veteran legislator who resigned her seat in a safe Democratic Reno district and challenged Brower, Leslie led the race most of the night Tuesday but lost by 266 votes as the final absentee ballots were counted.
Sen. Mo Denis said Wednesday that Democrats are looking at "anomalies" involving provisional ballots.
Provisional ballots are only afforded for federal races. But the Senate Democratic caucus leader says Democrats want to know if the outcome of the District 15 race was affected by provisional ballots cast by people who should have been allowed to vote an entire ballot.
Denis adds no decision has been made on whether a recount will be requested.
