RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Crews officially began the demolition of old apartment units on Eastshore Dr. formally known as Virginia Lake Apartments.
The project has been eight years in the making. During the economic downturn, the project was put on hold, but J. Witt with Silverwing Development says the economy is turning around and the project is moving forward.
In about a month, crews will be doing site work and then begin construction on the new units which will include different style condos and apartments. The new complex will be called Edgewater at Virginia Lake.
Witt says he also gifted the City of Reno with a six figure dollar amount to improve the clarity and appearance of Virginia Lake. He says the improvements will include a circulation system which will improve the appearance and get rid of algae currently in the lake. He also hopes this will lead to the restocking of fish in the lake.
Residents should be able to move into the new units in February or March of 2015.
