MINDEN, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a helicopter that had crash-landed near the Horsebend area south of Gardnerville, NV.
According to a press release, the crash occurred on August 27, 2014 in the early afternoon. The Sheriff’s Office was notified at 4:15 p.m. after the occupants had arrived at an area medical center.
The pilot -- Doyle Holden -- advised he and a friend named Karen Cole had used the helicopter to fly in the Horsebend area to fish the Carson River. After fishing, they lifted off the ground and experienced a malfunction and crashed-landed. Holden and Cole suffered minor injuries and contacted another pilot who flew in and transported them out of the area.
The National Safety and Transportation Board was notified and they are investigating the incident.
