UPDATE - The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Edwin Schuler of Modesto, California.
KINGVALE, Calif. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The driver of a Dodge Ram has died after the vehicle overturned in an embankment today near Kingvale.
California Highway Patrol says the crash happened this morning around 8, when the driver was driving on Interstate 80 east of Kingvale. For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the Dodge Ram allowed his vehicle to drift to the left onto the median shoulder, then abruptly over corrected the steering of the Dodge to the right. The vehicle began to fishtail from left to right causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle went back across the #1 lane and the median shoulder where it overturned down the center median embankment. CHP says the vehicle's driver compartment was crushed causing the driver to be pronounced dead at the scene.
This collision is still under investigation. Alcohol was not a contributing factor to this crash, according to CHP. Any witnesses are encourage to contact Truckee CHP at (530)582-7570.
The identity is being withheld until the driver's next of kin is notified.
