CARSON CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- News 4 has learned the driver involved in a crash that resulted in two deaths in Carson City over the weekend has previously served time in the Nevada Department of Corrections.

Jason Cloutier, 34, allegedly hit and killed two people Sunday night while driving the wrong way on Highway 50. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this case according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

According to Claudia Stieber at the Department of Parole and Probation, Cloutier was convicted of his third DUI in seven years in 2004. He was sentenced to 12 to 32 months in prison and served seven months behind bars before being put on parole. He was released from parole in June of 2005.

One of the victims in the Highway 50 crash over the weekend has been identified as 26-year-old Sierra Grace Woodward of Carson City. According to NHP, the driver who was hit and killed on scene is not expected to be identified until next week.

According to Nevada Highway Patrol, Cloutier is still in the ICU in serious condition. They say they expect him to be in the hospital for another month.

Speed, I agree with you. We should also make jail time mandatory for drivers that exceed the speed limit and those that don't use their turn signals. And people that run red lights should be executed on the spot.

my neighbor's ex-wife makes $80 every hour on the laptop. She has been fired for ten months but last month her check was $14532 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read more on this site ======WEP6.COM======

To DRTMaverick--I'm all for second chances but this was his fourth chance, and the people in the other cars didn't have ANY chance. I certainly hope They got to go to college because if they didn't, they'll never have a chance to go now!

His passenger was his girlfriend. She leaves behind a very young son. He oddly had a driving job at the Post Office.

He caused 2 deaths from his 4th DUI. Time to get a short rope and find a tall tree.

Speed, I agree that on the second and third offenses prison time should be implemented. However we're human, everyone makes mistakes. Most first time DUI offenders do not get a second DUI, only people with problems do. I had a DUI back in 2008. Blew a .082 at the jail. If they made you spend two years mandatory in jail I doubt I'd be a 4.0GPA college student. I'd probably be selling drugs to your kids instead. Just a thought.

Why are the laws so soft on these people! If you get caught driving drunk you should be sent to prison on the 1st one. It's like handing a serial killer his weapon back and telling them, "This is only the first time we caught you" so go back out and kill again. How many people have to die before more is done?

These habitual drunks don't stop driving just because their license gets taken,or because their car gets impounded,or because they put a breath-alyzer lock out on their car. They ALWAYS find an enabler to hook them up with a licensed car. First offense should be MANDATORY 2 years in prison, second should be MANDATORY 5 years, and third offense proves they can't be rehabbed so it should be death sentence. In the event of a death accident move the sentence up one click and let the family of the deceased decide how they pay restitution. NO time off for ANY reason.
