UPDATE: The Douglas County Sheriff's Office tells News 4 the driver of the dune buggy was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger of the dune buggy was flown to Renown Hospital with serious injuries.
The initial report is a Ford F-150 was traveling eastbound on Sunrise Pass road near Juniper Valley and the dune buggy was travelling westbound at a high rate of speed. The dune buggy began sliding on the packed dirt surface and drifted into the path of the F-150 hitting head on.
The crash happened behind the Johnson Lane Subdivision in the Pinenut Mountains.
The names of the people involved are being withheld pending notification of families.
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - A dune buggy and pickup truck slammed into each other on Sunrise Pass Road in Douglas County at about 9:20 Thanksgiving morning.
Captain Terry Taylor of the East Fork Fire Protection District tells News 4, two people in the dune buggy sustained serious injuries and one was flown to Renown.
Both vehicles hit each other in a blind corner while travelling on the dirt road near Painted Rock on BLM recreational area.
