SPARKS, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The City of Sparks has installed four electric vehicle (EV) car charging stations in the main parking lot at Sparks City Hall, 431 Prater Way. The City of Sparks says the two dual-port, 208-volt units are available for use by anyone at any time.
The City’s four charging units will help increase the infrastructure available for electrical vehicles in the area and help reduce the carbon footprint in the Truckee Meadows, while keeping up with current technology.
The City had EV charging units installed as part of the City Hall electrical upgrade project recently completed by Briggs Electric. The location of the charging stations and timing of the installation with other electrical projects allowed the bids to come in well below engineers’ initial estimates.
To use the car charging stations, just register with Chargepoint.com
to receive a pair of free ChargePoint cards. Users will then have access to thousands of charging stations across the U.S., with hundreds of charging ports being added every month. In fact, dozens of EV charging stations are already available and in use throughout the Truckee Meadows.
