RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4) -- The Elko City Council is moving towards letting homeless people camp on city owned property.

The unanimous ordinance change by council members will allow overnight camping on ten acres owned by the city. The property, located on Hot Springs Rd. near the Humboldt river, should have portable toilets as well as portable water.

This ordinance will be temporary while the city works on long-term solutions to address the homeless problem.
