CARLIN, Nev. (KENV & MyNews4.com) -- A Carlin man suspected of robbing a Twin Falls bank earlier today was shot and wounded by Elko authorities who chased the suspect into a ravine outside of Carlin around 2:30pm today.
According to Elko County Undersheriff Clair Morris, the suspect, who has not been identified, was initially pursued from Idaho. Carlin & Elko Police, along with Nevada Highway Patrol and Sheriff's Deputies rousted him from a home in Carlin. Also at the home, a female accomplice who was said to be the girlfriend of the suspect was arrested.
The suspect apparently armed himself with an AR, a handgun, two knives and additional ammo before talking off in a Toyota 4 Runner. The vehicle became disabled on a dirt road some 20 miles outside of Carlin in an area known as Swale Mountain. A confrontation resulted in three or four shots fired. Morris says the suspect was wounded in the abdomen and has been flown to the hospital in Elko.
Morris says he does not know whether the suspect fired on police, but says he did point a weapon toward officers. No officers were hurt.
