ELKO, Nev. (AP) — An Elko doctor who admitted distributing prescription drugs without a license has been sentenced to three years probation and fined $1,400 in a plea deal with prosecutors that will keep her out of jail.
Dr. Lynn Greenhouse pleaded guilty in December to acting as a principal to possession of a controlled substance. Federal drug agents started investigating in 2010. She originally was charged with nine counts of illegally dispensing controlled substances and dangerous drugs as well as conspiracy.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports Greenhouse told District Judge Nancy Porter on Monday she was only trying to help a patient in need, but she apologized and acknowledged her mistake.
The Nevada Board of Medical Examiners suspended her license for three years, but stayed the suspension pending completion of probation.
