Ex-president of US Bowling Congress resume flap

UPDATE: Jason Overstreet the Managing Director, Marketing and Communications for the USBC tells News 4 in a statement:

“President of USBC is an unpaid volunteer position. The president is elected by the 25 member volunteer board of directors. Jim Sturm served on the USBC Board of Directors starting in 2007 and was elected president in 2011. USBC presumes biographical information submitted by our volunteer leaders is correct. We had not been contacted about any concerns during his tenure.”

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The former president of the U.S. Bowling Congress who now oversees bowling operations at three Reno casinos has scaled back his resume after a blogger questioned claims about his college degrees and bowling titles.

The bowling website 11thframe.com first reported Thursday about the errors in Jim Sturm's resume previously posted on the web site of Reno Tri-Properties.

The Reno-Gazette Journal also reported Friday he has no bachelor's or master's degrees in marketing from West Virginia State University, nor did he win three Professional Bowlers Association titles.

The Bowling Congress repeated those claims in announcing he'd been elected president in 2011.
