RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Federal Aviation Administration says authorities are investigating the crash of a small plane in eastern Nevada.
FAA spokesman Ian Gregor says the single-engine Piper PA31 aircraft crashed at about 10 a.m. Saturday, 19 miles southeast of Ely. It was on its way from Mesa, Ariz., to the Portland-Troutdale Airport in Oregon.
Gregor tells KTVN-TV that investigators believe at least two people were on board the plane. However, the probe is in its early stages, and no additional details about the passengers or possible cause of the crash were released.
Both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
