RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - The Radio Television Digital News Association has honored the News 4 Fact Finder Team with an Edward R. Murrow Award for our "Silver State Secrets" investigative series.

The series shed light on problems ranging from loopholes in lobbyist reporting requirements, to troubles in obtaining public records, to a lack of transparency in the lawmaking process.  Links for our five stories in the series are on the left side of this story.

RTDNA describes Edward R. Murrow Award recipients as demonstrating, "the spirit of excellence that Murrow set as a standard for the profession of electronic journalism." We were awarded the Region 2 Small Market Television Murrow Award in the News Series category.  Our region includes television stations in California, Guam, Hawaii, and Nevada.

When releasing the winners list Mike Cavender, Executive Director of RTDNA said, "For more than 40 years, the Edward R. Murrow Award has honored the best of electronic journalism... This year's winners represent the outstanding work being done in local newsrooms, which we are proud to recognize." RTDNA has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971.  We also congratulate KTVN Channel 2 for being recognized in the News Documentary Category.
