Fallen sailors' ashes return home

Reno, NV (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The ashes of Petty Officer, Third Class Brian Collins arrived at the Reno - Tahoe International Airport on January 22, 2014.

The Patriot Guard Riders greeted Brian Collins’ family as they received his ashes and his mother was presented an American Flag in his honor.

Alongside the Patriot Guard were other members of the community to show their support for Collins’ family, even those who didn’t know Brian.

25 year old Petty Officer, Third Class Brian Collins was killed in a navy helicopter crash on January 8, 2014 off the coast of Virginia. 

Those who knew him say he will be remembered for his goofy personality and his smile. 

A procession in Collins’ honor will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Truckee – Tahoe Mortuary. The procession will end at Truckee High School, where a celebration of his life will start at 12:00 p.m. in the gym.
