FALLON, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The Fallon Cantaloupe Festival is poised to sweeten northern Nevada's Labor Day festivities and kicks off today.

The Cantaloupe Fest is Nevada's longest-running food event; the cantaloupes, a local specialty, are known as the best-tasting melons on the market and have been grown in the Fallon area since 1911.

Entry to the Cantaloupe Fest is $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens, and $3 for children ages 3-12.
