RENO, Nev. (Mynews4.com & KRNV)- Dylan Ridolfi, 15, died in a tragic sledding accident over the holiday weekend.  Dylan's family and close family friends had gone to Sheep's Flat, a popular sledding hill near the summit at Mt. Rose on Sunday.

Sean and Stefanie McCaffrey have been friends with the Ridolfi's for a very long time.  "We went to college together," the couple said. They were there when Dylan lost his life in the tragic sledding accident.

Conditions have been very icy lately because of a lack of snow.  They chose the location at Sheep's Flat because they thought it would be safer.  "We made a conscious decision as parents, lets go some place a little more open," said Stefanie.

Stefanie described how Dylan went up with his friend and sister first.  The others started making their way up slowly and they could see Dylan get on his tube.  "It was the very first run of the day, the very first run," said Stefanie.  She says Dylan started picking up speed. "I immediately thought, Oh my God.  In my mind it was in slow motion, he's heading for the trees. And then crash!"

Dylan had slammed right into trees and sadly did not survive the impact.  "What I can't believe is in that split second life was taken away from us," said Stefanie.

"He was a good kid and loved his family.  He loved football.  We really enjoyed going to Wolf Pack football games.  I'm going to miss that," said Sean as he fought back tears.

A fund is being set up for Dylan and memorial services are being planned.  That information is not yet available.
