Fire Crews Fight Apartment Fire in South Reno

UPDATE - 6:50pm- Fire Chief Scott Baker tells News 4 that witnesses say the fire started on the patio of one of the apartment units when the residents were using a charcoal BBQ.

Firefighters on scene say that two apartment units were completely destroyed in the blaze and three or four other units are unlivable tonight. Red Cross is assisting these families with a place to stay tonight and will continue to help them until they are back on their feet.

According to Fire Chief Scott Baker there were no injuries and firefighters did save a couple of cats from the blaze.


UPDATE - 6:10pm - The fire is being mopped up.




RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Reno Firefighters are on scene of a fire at an apartment complex in South Reno.

It's unclear what started the fire, but crews are at the Rosewood Parks apartment complex, located at 4650 Sierra Madre Drive in South Reno.

A REMSA unit at the scene tells News 4 that so far, there have been no injuries.
