RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) It's a new school year, a new season of football; and the university has a new area just for students to lift spirits before the game.
Half the fun of a Wolf Pack football game seems to be a good ol' pre-game tailgate party.
"It's great,” says UNR student, Spenser Blank. “We're pumped to be here. We're here at tailgate, and we're excited to kick some Utah Butt!"
With one week down in the school year, college football season is welcomed with open arms.
"We need this right now! Yea! This needs to happen right now,” exclaims UNR student, Tyler Lawrence.
Chaz Torrez adds, “After week one, this is what we need. Haha"
Megan Hughes says, “ [I’m] so excited! It's my favorite time of the year!”
Her friend, Amelia Lane says,”It's always fun. We get to spend time with friends, and hang out. It’s great!"
New this year, the university unveiled a student tailgating zone. Students can pay for a spot, and all students are welcome free of charge. Police patrol it as any other tailgating zone.
"We're really excited,” says Senior Ron Delos Santos. “It's definitely a new thing that athletics has put into place. It's exactly what the university has needed to really bring the students together. And look around! Everyone's having a good time we've got a bunch of clubs and orgs out here."
Live music will also be a big part of the zone Opening day featured the band, Old Dominion, from Nashville, Tennessee.
Win or lose, students are bringing the wolf pack spirit as college football season kicks off.
