(NDOW, KRNV & MyNews4.com)-- SPARKS, Nev. Nevada Department of Wildlife officials are dealing with a fish kill at the Sparks Marina. The kill seems to be in the north end of the Sparks Marina in the area near the cove and beach. "It looks like we have thousands of fish who have died," says NDOW Fisheries Biologist Chris Crookshanks. "Trout, bass and even catfish have perished in the past 24 hours." According to Crookshanks, preliminary water testing shows low levels of oxygen in the waters near the area of the fish kill.
A report first came to NDOW on this past Tuesday about some struggling fish at the urban lake located in east Sparks. Saturday night another report came into NDOW's dispatch center of more fish washing up on shore.
Cleanup of the dead fish and the search for reasons for the fish kill will continue on Monday morning.
