Reno, NV (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Airport officials at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport say flight delays after the east coast storm could affect flights in northern Nevada over the weekend as well.

Five of the seven airlines at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport experienced delays throughout the day on Friday, January 3, 2014. The affected airlines include Southwest, Allegiant, United, American and Delta. Heidi Jared, a spokesperson for the airport says more than 30 flights were affected, which could cause the airlines to be playing catch up over the weekend.

Jared says the average delay time is about an hour, but despite the numerous flight delays everything else from check-in, to ecurity,
to baggage claim is running smoothly.

If you are flying out this weekend, airport officials recommend calling ahead to find out the status of your flight. Officials also want to remind you that if your Reno flight leaves on time that doesn’t guarantee that your connecting flight will be on time.
