BORDERTOWN, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) – Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers arrested 36-year-old James Virgil McDowell of Florida Wednesday afternoon. McDowell is accused of stealing one vehicle Tuesday night near Bordertown and then another Wednesday morning.
Troopers say at around 7:30 Tuesday night both Nevada and California Highway Patrol were in pursuit of a Blue Ford Vehicle with California plates heading southbound on US-395 from the Agricultural station in California at 100 plus mph into Nevada. CHP spiked the vehicle just north of Hallelujah Junction. Later into the pursuit NHP Troopers located the unoccupied vehicle and started pursuing the suspect on foot.
Wednesday morning at around 3:30 a.m. NHP say they received a call from a patron at Bordertown stating their car was just stolen from the parking lot. A trooper in the area attempted to locate the 1987 yellow Ford Fairmont southbound on US- 395 and followed it off the Interstate onto Oddie Blvd. When McDowell came to a stop, that's when troopers made their move and arrested him.
McDowell faces several charges including stolen vehicle and driving with a cancelled, revoked or suspended license. Troopers say it's unclear at this time if these two cases are related. Both California and Nevada Highway Patrol are investigating.
