RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Local food trucks are facing off in a friendly, but fierce competition to win the taste buds of customers and hopefully win some money to aid the fight against cancer.

As the official kickoff to fundraising efforts for the American Cancer Society and Reno-Sparks' Relay for Life, 9 food trucks will compete for the vote of favorite dish.

"This is the best kickoff that I've been privileged to be a part of," American Cancer Society Specialist for Relay for Life Aimee Giller says.

Customers will be able to vote for their favorite dish with a cash donation to a truck's bucket. The truck that raises the most funds will be named the winner of the event. Then, 15% of the truck's revenue during the event will also go to the Reno-Sparks Relay for Life.

"It's wonderful whenever there's an event to bring everyone together," Electric Blue owner Rich Seldon says."To top it off for such a great cause it's a 'no brainer' for us."

The food truck competition is Saturday, January 11th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. right next to Rink on the River on First St. downtown.
