CARSON CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- A former teacher at Carson High School who allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a student, has pleaded not guilty to charges today in Carson City District Court.

Jennifer Dalton appeared in court today to face a charge of one count of having sexual conduct with a student (a Category C Felony). On October 24, 2012, Dalton turned herself in to Carson City Sheriff Deputies after a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was booked in Carson City Jail and her bail was set at $15,000.

The investigation began on August 31, 2011 after the sheriff’s office was contacted by the Human Resources Director of the School District. Carson City School District Superintendent Richard Stokes said Dalton was put on administrative leave with pay from September 2011 to November 2011 and then resigned for personal reasons.

According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office, there was forensics analysis used during the investigation, and as a result, the district
attorney saw enough evidence to charge her and issue a warrant for her arrest.
