RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Senior Care Plus, a Medicare Advantage Plan from Hometown Health, will offer free health screenings during the 17th annual Senior Fest at Reno Town Mall on Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Health screenings will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees, age 50 and older, can receive screenings regardless of their health insurance carrier. Screenings include a basic metabolic panel and lipid profile, glycohemoglobin (hemoglobin A1C) for known diabetics, blood pressure check and body mass index calculation (BMI). A pharmacist will also be available to review medications.
Senior Care Plus members receive a free fecal immunochemical test (FIT) at-home colon cancer screening. In addition, heel bone scans will be offered to 100 female Senior Care Plus members on a first-come, first-served basis.
Flu and pneumonia shots will also be available at a low cost to attendees. Medicarebeneficiaries (Part B), members of Senior Care Plus or Hometown Health fully-insured HMO and PPO plans will receive flu shots with no out-of-pocket cost. Pneumonia shots will have no out-of-pocket costs for those who meet CDC criteria and have Medicare (Part B) or Senior Care Plus. The cost for all others will be greatly reduced.
