QUINCY, Cal. (DATELINE NBC) - Down a small country road in the heart of the California Sierra mountains lived a young family from Reno, Nevada. It was an idyllic remote place…until one night the father calls 911 to report that he's been in a shoot-out with a car full of strangers.  With one man dead and two others injured, authorities wonder if this was self-defense or something else? Keith Morrison reports.  This show aired Friday, October 18th, 2013.

Quincy ain't even incorporated (it's the County Seat) and there's only 2 stoplights in the whole County; illiteracy/poverty not uncommon. Nice country but crime also exists. Y is this being promoted by Nv3?

Gee Whiz, I am being called out and slammed by another "Blogmeister" when my 2-yr. old Comment isn't even Posted. Listen, this is supposed to be journalism, but somehow the "reporters" are 3rd-rate. Any (biased) opinion is OK 2 post, but Noooooo 'technical stuff'?

I am extremely saddened about the boy who lost hid life and hid Mom. I watched the whole show and I am still not sure if those other kids had a gun or not, not to take away of how this guy went after them so stupidly without police help period. How long is he going to serve and why is my question

The man is a "monster" because he killed "innocent" white boys. His mistake. Had he killed innocent black kids, he'd be out to enjoy his life with his family. America, where "justice" is served, for white people.

Start working at home with Google! Just work for few hours and have more time with friends and family. I earn up to $500 per week. It's a great work at home opportunity. I can't believe how easy it was once I tried it out. Linked here Pow6.com

@Jessica,did you even bother to watch the program! The first night you might be able to say they were lost! But they went back a second night and they knew exactly where they were going!! They have no excuse for what happened! Why didn't any of the other punks want to talk on camera?

If these idiots had not come back to this guys house 2 nights in a row then this would not have happened!! Maybe rory's mother should have asked all of his buddies what were they thinking!! and her precious rory was the driver that took it upon himself to go back twice!!

This man is a MONSTER. Just look at his eyes. I agree with Rory's mother, he should not have conjugal visits, see his children, etc.. The warning sign he had posted on his property tells of his true character. It amuses me how people forget being teenagers once they become adults. So, where you a choir boy? I doubt it, none of us were as teenagers. If you have never lost a child, you have no idea how your life is forever changed. I know, I lost my son at age 20. I pray everyday, especially for those who are suffering the loss of a child. Thank you dateline for airing this.
