QUINCY, Cal. (DATELINE NBC) - Down a small country road in the heart of the California Sierra mountains lived a young family from Reno, Nevada. It was an idyllic remote place…until one night the father calls 911 to report that he's been in a shoot-out with a car full of strangers.  With one man dead and two others injured, authorities wonder if this was self-defense or something else? Keith Morrison reports.  This show aired Friday, October 18th, 2013.

Start working at home with Google! Just work for few hours and have more time with friends and family. I earn up to $500 per week. It's a great work at home opportunity. I can't believe how easy it was once I tried it out. Linked here

Kramer your about as intelligent as a box of rocks! All you ever comment about on any of these articles is the spelling, grammar and how the story was written!

@Jessica,did you even bother to watch the program! The first night you might be able to say they were lost! But they went back a second night and they knew exactly where they were going!! They have no excuse for what happened! Why didn't any of the other punks want to talk on camera?

If these idiots had not come back to this guys house 2 nights in a row then this would not have happened!! Maybe rory's mother should have asked all of his buddies what were they thinking!! and her precious rory was the driver that took it upon himself to go back twice!!

This man is a MONSTER. Just look at his eyes. I agree with Rory's mother, he should not have conjugal visits, see his children, etc.. The warning sign he had posted on his property tells of his true character. It amuses me how people forget being teenagers once they become adults. So, where you a choir boy? I doubt it, none of us were as teenagers. If you have never lost a child, you have no idea how your life is forever changed. I know, I lost my son at age 20. I pray everyday, especially for those who are suffering the loss of a child. Thank you dateline for airing this.

I just saw this tonight. 3/8/14.. This man should be set free! And I agree with everything he did! These punks should NEVER have been in this area and hopefully it woke them up. If they were looking for a party? WHO? What Party? Why were they stealing solar lights? Why didn't they ask where the party was? Most anyone would protect their family! PERIOD!

I'm sorry, but the punks got themselves into their position! This man was defending his family! See what kind of serious s--t you can get in for playing around! They may not have deserved to get shot... but what did they think they were getting into. Don't go mess with folks! These young men were being dumb! and bet they learned a lesson! Kuddos to the man protecting his family!

Seeing the shooter's adorable young son talk about how he misses his dad, and then hear him say, "He protects-s-s-s us," and then cry, just makes me so, so sad...

The usual vigilante rants and sloppy writing goes well with the pandering reporting by Kieth Morrison. I mean, Quincy isn't even incorporated, it is the County Seat, and a "town". OK, facts aside, it is unlikely that the circumstances nor a jury in this close-knit community would be less than just. Larger issues of course arise, but taking the judge/jury/executioner route doesn't play well up there. There was no "grow"; and there are always locals around that are low-life criminals, a few are violent, but there are plenty of gun owners too. I commend Dateline for the excellent photography of a beautiful area, one that is prone to wildfire, unfortunately.
