GSR hires Vern Sohrt, Kate Brown in sales positions

RENO, Nev. (KRNV & -- GSR adds nearly 20 years of experience to its Meetings and Conventions team as it welcomes Vern Sohrt as executive vice president of sales. Sohrt will now oversee all sales, planning and communication in the Meetings and Conventions department. Additionally, GSR recently hired Kate Brown as director of leisure sales.

In his new role, Sohrt is committed to planning and confirming meetings and conventions for GSR and has already confirmed multiple events extending beyond 2016. Additionally, he will direct a well-established team of sales, meetings, and conventions managers who recently helped host the Reno Tahoe USA’s Great Reno Balloon Race Fam. Sohrt earned a bachelor’s degree in hotel administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ (UNLV).

As Director of Leisure Sales, Kate Brown is responsible for managing a team of seven in the Online Travel Agency (OTA), wholesale, corporate Global Distribution System (GDS) and leisure group markets. She enjoys developing working relationships with clients and partners to ensure GSR effectively communicates all that is happening within its Meetings and Conventions department. Brown attended the University of Minnesota and earned a bachelor’s degree in business.
