RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - One of the most sought after high school recruits in Northern Nevada suffered an injury Saturday afternoon. Reed High School’s Gabby Williams landed awkwardly and twisted her knee.
Saturday, Reed traveled to play their rival, the Reno Huskies. 30-seconds into the game, Williams was injured. News 4’s Julia Lopez spoke with Williams who said the initial prognosis is a torn knee ligament, but she will be getting an MRI Monday to get more details on the injury.
Williams was averaging 30-points per game entering the match-up. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports recruiters from Arizona State, Utah and Kentucky were in attendance at the game where Williams was injured, and recruiters from the University of Connecticut and Fresno State visited earlier this week.
Williams finished 4th in the women's high jump Olympic trials, barely missing a spot on the Olympic team.
