SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- A gang member in South Lake Tahoe was arrested for drug possession after he battered his wife.
South Lake Tahoe Police Department says that on Apr. 7, they were called to the home of 20-year-old Jesus Rodriguez on Blackwood Avenue. His wife told police she found out Rodriguez was hiding a large amount of cocaine in the home they shared with their two-year-old. The victim says she re-hid the drugs and refused to tell him where the cocaine was.
At this point, Rodriguez allegedly pushed the victim down on a bed and forcibly held her down with his hands around her throat. The victim said that during the struggle, she was able to scream to her 8-year-old brother, also in the house, to call the police.
The victim tells police that Rodriquez then left the home with their toddler before the police came. The victim turned over 20.6 grams of cocaine to responding officers when they arrived.
SLTPD followed an investigative lead and located Rodriquez at the residence of his brother on James Avenue in South Lake Tahoe.
Rodriguez was arrested at his brother’s house for domestic battery and possession of a controlled substance for sale, both felonies. Officers returned the unharmed toddler back to the victim in this case.
Rodriguez is an admitted member of the Norteno criminal street gang, and has been involved with prior violent gang related encounters in South Lake Tahoe.
