RENO, Nev. (AP) — A new fire station in west Reno is expected to be open for business in time for next year's fire season.

A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled Thursday for Station No. 35 of the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District.

The station being built on West Fourth Street will serve residents in the Caughlin Ranch and Verdi areas west of Reno.

Officials say once completed, the station will house one engine, one water tender and a brush truck. It will be staffed by a crew of three or four firefighters.

They add the location will improve response times to those foothill areas.
