HAZMAT crews determine unknown substance at Umpqua Bank is not toxic

UPDATE: RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- HAZMAT crews have determined the unknown substance at Umpqua Bank on the corner of Robb Dr. and Mae Anne Ave. in Reno is not toxic.

Crews responded to the call earlier this afternoon when the substance -- previously thought to be narcotics -- was discovered on the premises.

The parking lot is still blocked off until further notice; employees are now being released from the building.

RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- HAZMAT crews have responded to a call from Umpqua Bank on the corner of Robb Dr. and Mae Anne Ave. in Reno after an unknown substance -- possibly narcotics -- was discovered on the premises, according to Reno Police.

The parking lot has been blocked off while crews investigate.

The Reno Fire Department is on scene and News 4 is currently en route.

Just in case it isn't clear to readers, "HAZMAT CREWS" means Reno Firefighters. And we are OK as a city laying off 35 more of them. Perfect.
