RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Senate majority leader Harry Reid has reimbursed his political campaign for more than $16,000 in holiday gifts given to his friends and supporters.
Reid's office says the Democrat gave jewerly from his grandaughter's company as presents last year. The expense was initially charged to Reid's campaign, 'Friends for Harry Reid,' but the federal election commission asked for further information and Republicans ridiculed the payments to his granddaughter.
Reid announced he would pay out of his own pocket.
A spokesman for the campaign says it complies with all federal election rules.
