RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The Washoe County Health District began their third scheduled mosquito abatement -- or reduction -- operation at 6 a.m. Thursday.

A helicopter will apply "Altosid" -- a mosquito-specific pesticide -- to 950 acres in the following locations:
  • Lemmon Valley
  • Kiley Ranch
  • Red Hawk
  • Rosewood Lakes
  • Butler Ranch
  • South Meadows
  • Damonte Ranch
  • Washoe Valley
As always, the Health District reminds you to stay protected during mosquito season, and to avoid standing water on your property.
