Health insurance marketplaces to rely on consumer claims until 2015

The Washington Post is reporting the Obama administration has said it would significantly scale back the health law requirements dictating new insurance marketplaces verify consumers’ income and health insurance status.

In the time being, the federal government will rely more on consumers’ self-reported information until 2015. After that, methods to ensure stronger verification will be in place.

The Washington Post reports the delay comes after an announcement Tuesday that the federal government would postpone for one year the requirement that employers with 50 or more full-time workers provide health coverage.
