RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- We're having a heat wave, and it is causing some uncomfortable temperatures for northern Nevada residents.

Temperatures are expected to hit triple digits on Tuesday, and News 4 has some tips for how to stay safe in the coming days:
  • Drink plenty of water, even if you are not thirsty
  • If possible, stay indoors where it is air-conditioned
  • If you must be outdoors, try to keep physical activity to a miniumum
  • Do not, under any circumstances, leave infants, children, or pets in a parked car
  • If you have elderly neighbors, check on them during the day to make sure they are safe and cool
If you do need a place to seek shelter from the heat over the next couple of days, the Salvation Army Administrative Building will be open. It is located at the corner of Sutro Street and Oddie Boulevard.

Stay tuned to News 4 for the latest weather forecasts over the next week.
